5-7. While the event, in its 48th season, has long been known for its amazing artist, vendor and sidewalk sale, which winds all the way down Front Street in the harbor, and its huge draw of musical guests, this years program has a goal of ramping up the celebration of the town itself. According to Scituate Chamber of Commerce President Linda Ferguson, Our goal is to bring back the heritage in Heritage Days. That means that in addition to all that makes the event super fun the music and other entertainment, the food, the crafting and more the weekend will feature displays, open houses at historic sites and even food that beckons back to the early days of the coastal town. Most of the historic sites are open for free during Heritage Days each year, but this year they all are, and the chamber is providing free shuttle service to all of them all day long. You can tour Scituate Lighthouse and learn all about the Army of Two that was Rebecca and Abigail Bates. You can climb Lawson tower and imagine what it was like when financial guru Thomas Lawson owned just about everything as far as the eye can see. You can visit a museum that teaches you all about sea mossing (a vocation that kids used to make extra money as recently as two decades ago). This year, in partnership with the towns Historical Society, its even more fun. herePick up a passport in the harbor (drawn by famed cartoonist Matt Brown, who loves Scituate), and get it stamped at each historic site.

When we look at pay for Mississippi and when we look at those countries that have surpassed the United States as itrelates to education, one thing we do know is they put a strong emphasis on teachers, said Ellis. McComb Principal Lakya Taylor-Washington said the parameters set regarding testing to becomea teacher in Mississippiis another issue. I know there should be some type of accountability because we are a professional vocation,” said Taylor-Washington. “But we still need to look at more than one data point in deciding who can teach in the classroom. To help recruit more teachers, the district is infusing more technology in every classroom, so teachers will have it at their fingertips to educate students. We are the only school district in the state that has a full space lab that is a virtual reality 3-D laboratory,” Ellis said. “If we have innovation, teachers will come. Nor is there any trace of an exception in the Fathers of the Church : they insist on the general application of the evangelical counsels, and on the importance of following them without delay; and on the other hand, they declare that the choice is free, without danger of incurring the loss of God’s favour. Holy Scripture therefore applies to the profession of every man the general principles laid down above. As Frederick Buechner puts it in a well-known passage from Wishful Thinking: A Seekers ABC, The place God calls you is the place where your deep gladness and the worlds deep hunger meet. That intersecting point is your calling, your vocation. http://realcaleblopez.haralsoncounty.org/2016/07/28/in-the-same-case-companies-and-individuals-tend-to-look-for-booking-agencies-that-provide-talented-motivational-speakersA vocation which is by many persons called exterior thus comes to be added to the interior vocation; and this exterior vocation is defined as the admission of a candidate in due form by competent authority. This appears to give us ground for the true solution of the recent controversies on the subject of vocation. A person can pick, choose and switch profession freely depending on his/her preferences, strengths or circumstances. Oliver O’Donovan points out that although work is a gift of creation, it is “ennobled into mutual service in the fellowship of Christ.” 11 Leland Ryken argues for seeing the call of God to a particular occupation as a reflection of the gospel call, and suggests that this implies vocational loyalty – “modern notions of job become deficient” and “the element of arbitrariness of one’s choice of work” is removed. 12 Since the establishment of Vocational Guidance in 1908 by the engineer Frank Parsons , the use of the term “vocation” has evolved, with emphasis shifting to an individual’s development of talents and abilities in the choice and enjoyment of a career. A vocation is the work that someone is called to do as a job. In Holy Scripture we read those general counsels of self-denial which all Christians are called upon to follow during their lives, while they are the object of a more complete application in a state which for that very reason may be called a state of perfection. What native strength of mind cast away on a vocation that is unworthy of it!
